It’s difficult to tell an effective sales story

… unless you first understand your customer’s story.

Making connections™

People are already talking – why not join in the conversation – positively!

I don’t know where else in the world you would find as many storytellers as in Trinidad and Tobago. We were all born storytellers. Trinbagonians know how to not only give a good story but to act it out. We know when to mimic others, when to lower our voices and at just the inflection point to crescendo and dissolve into raucous laughter.

Yet sadly, in our business lives we sometimes lose our birth gift and instead don our “professional persona”. This does not only misrepresent who we are but quite possibly is responsible for us not building the long term profitable relationships that we desire.

Storytelling has become pervasive in sales and marketing conversations because it can compellingly communicate the history of your organization, the usefulness of your products and services, your values and vision, and the character of your customers.

Word of Mouth Marketing Manifesto – Andy Sernovitz

  1. Happy customers are your best advertising. Make people happy.
  2. Marketing is easy: Earn the respect and recommendation of your customers. They will do your marketing for you, for free.
  3. Ethics and good service come first.
  4. UR the UE: You are the user experience (not what your ads say you are).
  5. Negative word of mouth is an opportunity. Listen and learn.
  6. Be interesting or be invisible.
  7. If it's not worth talking about, it's not worth doing.
  8. Make the story of your company a good one.
  9. It is more fun to work at a company that people want to talk about.
  10. Use the power of word of mouth to make business treat people better.
  11. Honest marketing makes more money.

For those companies fortunate to have a natural storyteller at the helm, please note that it’s not enough to have one leader at the top possessing this talent. If you want to effect major change leadership is required of people at many different levels and functions and sometimes geographical regions across the whole organization.

And even those employees within your business who are naturally talented at narrative also need to learn to target their approach to the particular issue facing the company.

To develop the full benefits of the business narrative, most firms will initially need help. Invite Giselle to deliver her 45 minute key note - Making Connections™ at your next meeting.

Her unique blend of humor, motivation and training will supercharge your event. You can contact Giselle directly on 1-868-750-7859 or if you prefer email then click here.
